NORMAN, Okla. – Jack Avrit, Alex Conley, Zack Kaneshiro and Matt McCarty of Santa Clara men's golf were recognized for their accomplishments in the classroom and on the course.
That foursome earned Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar accolades from the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
To be eligible, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior academically with a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.20. Individuals must also have participated in 40 percent of the team's competitive rounds and possess a stroke-average under 76.0.
Avrit and McCarty earned the distinction for the second-straight year. That duo, along with Conley and Kaneshiro, were named to the 2020-21 WCC All-Academic team.
McCarty, a fifth-year senior, led the team with a 70.88 stroke average on his way to an appearance in the NCAA Cle Elum Regional at the University of Washington. He was a three-time All-West Coast Conference selection.
Arvit, a senior who will return in the fall for a fifth season, competed in all seven team events in 2020-21, posting a 72.76 scoring average,.
Kaneshiro, also a senior who will be back on the 2021-22, appeared in four events and Conley, a sophomore, played in six tournaments.
The team was also recognized by the GCAA for having a GPA of at least 3.0. The Broncos were at 3.19 during 2020-21.
