SAN JOSE, Calif. - The City of San Jose will host a victory celebration for the MLS Cup Champions San Jose Earthquakes on Thursday, October 25, 2001 at Plaza de Cesar Chavez.
Entertainment and interactive games will start at 5:00 p.m. with the official ceremony commencing at 5:30 p.m. Players will be available to sign autographs immediately following the ceremony. In addition, fans will have the opportunity to purchase official championship merchandise.
The Mayor will also be on-hand to welcome the team home on behalf of its fans.
The San Jose Earthquakes won the 2001 MLS Cup in dramatic fashion, with a 2-1 overtime victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy. In winning the MLS Cup, the Earthquakes became the first team in MLS history to go from worst-to-first.
