SANTA CLARA, Calif. – For the second consecutive match, the Santa Clara men's tennis team rallied from a doubles point loss to defeat its opponent, this time in the form of a 4-2 victory over West Coast Conference foe Gonzaga University.

After falling down 1-0 after doubles and then 2-1 in singles, the Broncos (9-8) scored three wins out the next four singles matches to grab their first true road victory of the year and increase their winning streak to three matches.

"I am proud of the resilience that our guys have been showing recently," said Head Coach Derek Mills. "Winning conference matches is important and our guys responded to some adversity today."

The Bulldogs came out firing in doubles, claiming a 6-2 winner on Court 3 and 6-4 decision at the No. 1 spot. Although Connor Garnett even the score at 1-1 with a 6-1, 6-1 rout on Court 4 in singles, the freshman's team-leading 13th victory of the year, Gonzaga regained control with a straight set victory of its own at the second position.

Needing to respond, Robert Seby squared things up with his 11th victory of the year. Caught in a back-and-forth first set, the freshman came away victorious in the first set tiebreaker and then stepped on the accelerator, cruising to a 6-1 win in the second frame.

Senior Ashot Khacharyan continued the charge in similar fashion, winning his first set tiebreaker 7-6 (7-4) before handling Gonzaga's Jordan Smith 6-3 in set number two.

Feeding off his teammates' momentum, Kamran Khan sealed the deal with a comeback victory of his own on Court 5. Despite a 6-4 defeat in the first set, the freshman switched that score in his favor in the second, winning 6-4. In the third and deciding set, Khan clinched the 6-3 decision, his 10th victory in dual match play.

Now 2-1 in conference action, the Broncos will travel to face the University of Portland on Sunday.
