FULLERTON, Calif.- The Santa Clara women's tennis team earned their first win on the road with a convincing 5-2 victory over Cal State Fullerton at Titan Courts. The Broncos improve to 7-6 overall while the Titans fall to 3-15 for the season.
The Broncos swept past the Titans in doubles play to set the dominating tone for the match and give the Broncos the doubles point.
In singles play, senior Stephanie Galainena fell to Fullerton's Leslie Bullock, 6-2, 6-4. The Broncos rallied on to dominate the next four singles matches before freshman Kimmie Cox fell to Jerusha Cruz, 7-5, 6-1. Sophomore Kelly Buckley earned her second collegiate win for the season, defeating Fullerton's Brandy Andrews, 6-1, 6-3.
"It feels really good to get a win on the road. It's never easy to play on another home court, and the girls put in a really good effort today," said Bronco head coach Ben Cabell. "Kelly earned a really great win today, and today's win sets us up nicely for the two great matches ahead."
