Four Santa Clara University women's water polo players were named to the American Water Polo Coaches Association Academic All-America teams for the 2004 season. The Bronco women's water polo team also earned all-America recognition, while eight Broncos picked up academic honors from the Western Women's Water Polo Association.

Senior goalkeeper Anne Ginotti and freshman driver Kellie Dunn were both named to the AWPCA Superior team with grade point average's over 3.41. Ginotti had a 3.58 GPA in her final season on the Mission Campus. The 2004 captain, Ginotti recorded 191 saves last season and over 560 in her career. Dunn had a 3.43 GPA in her first year at Santa Clara. In the pool, Dunn appeared in 34 of the Broncos' 37 games, tallying 10 goals and 13 assists.

Juniors Catherine Flynn and Amanda Ginn each received Excellent awards from the AWPCA with GPA's over 3.25. Flynn was the Broncos leading scorer in 2004 with 86 goals. The Sacramento native scored multiple goals in 24 of 37 games last season. Ginn made 30 starts in the pool during 2004, scoring five goals and posting 18 steals.

The women's water polo team had a combined 3.16 GPA during the 2003-2004 school year to rank 16th among the nation's programs and earn AWPCA Team Honors.

The WWWPA also honored its top student-athletes as eight Broncos were named to its academic all-conference teams. Along with the four Broncos who earned national awards, Kristin Barnes, Kathleen Hamm, Katy Shumm, and Alanna Simpkins were honored by the WWWPA. Each of the eight had GPA's over 3.10.

Seven of the eight players honored by the conference will return to the pool in 2005 after leading the Broncos to a 21-16 mark last season. Santa Clara posted a 16-4 record in conference play and 11 wins over ranked opponents.
