Seaside, Calif. - After yesterday's disappointing season-opening loss to San Jose State, the Santa Clara women's water polo team rebounded with a dominating performance this afternoon, easily dismantling Cal State Monterey Bay 17-7. Head coach Keith Wilbur was able to use a variety of players in today's rout and 10 players in all scored at least one goal.

"It was a good all-around game for our team," stated Wilbur. "It was good to play a lot of different people. After yesterday's difficult loss, the team responded well and came out strong this afternoon."

Christie Miller led all Broncos with four goals in the game, while Katie Radvanyi added three goals. Bryn Asher and Emily Bonk tossed in two goals each, while Brianna Anderson, Ally Lamb, Amy Lamb, Claire Linney, Alanna Simpkins each contributed one goal apiece in the winning cause. Linney had an excellent all-around game, posting one assist and two steals in addition to her goal. Andrea Evans dished out two assists, while Elizabether Perry had an assist and two steals, along with an excellent defensive effort.

In the cage, Wilbur was able to use three goalies, starting off with Kristin Barnes in the first half. She tallied four blocks. In the third quarter, Randahl Capurro manned the goalie position with one block and Katie Gilmartin anchored the Bronco defense in the fourth quarter with two blocks.

With the victory, Santa Clara evens its record to 1-1 on the year and returns to action on Saturday, February 4, when it hosts Cal State East Bay at the Leavey Center Pool. Game time is set for noon.
