No. 20 Santa Clara Outlasts Sonoma State 12-11 in Overtime

Rohnert Park, Calif. - Emily Bonk scored the go-ahead goal with 16 seconds left to go in overtime to help No. 20 Santa Clara earn a hard-fought 12-11 victory over host Sonoma State in overtime.  Bonk was also responsible for a steal in the waning moments of the contest that prevented the Seawolves from tying the game and sending it into a second overtime.

Santa Clara improves its record to 15-6 on the year and returns to action on Sunday for a doubleheader at the Leavey Center Pool, with Chapman first up at 10 a.m., followed by a 4 p.m. match-up with Pacific.

"It was a really tough game that we played today. It was a one to two goal game and we were playing catch up the entire time," stated head coach Keith Wilbur. "Emily [Bonk] made some key plays done the stretch for us. The last couple of games have really been gutty wins by our team and it has only given us more confidence.

In total, Bonk scored three goals as the high-scorer of the game, as did Lindsay Bacolini and Andrea Evans. Alanna Simpkins found the back of the net twice, while Katie Radvanyi scored one goal. Bonk also drew two kickouts and had one assist and one steal to complete and excellent all-around effort. In the cage, Kristin Barnes was solid on the defensive end, notching seven blocks and one steal.
