Erin Pettygrove is in her third year at Santa Clara as a Registered Dietician.

Pettygrove completed her undergraduate degree in Dietetics at James Madison University in 2015 and went on to complete her dietetic internship in 2018 with a focus in Medical Nutrition Therapy & Sports Nutrition. During her internship, she worked with a wide range of collegiate athletes at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va. where she grew up.

After passing her board exam and becoming a Registered Dietitian, she gained one year of clinical experience in San Francisco but quickly realized her passion was in sports nutrition. She started her private practice as a consulting sports dietitian for athletes in 2019 and has worked part-time with Santa Clara athletics since then.

Her philosophy when it comes to nutrition is taking an integrative approach and addressing the root cause of any dietary issues before making evidence-based changes. Good health and nutrition are all about knowledge, balance, consistency, and the right tools.

She is a member of CPSDA (Collegiate and Professional Sports Dietitians Association) and multiple dietetic practice groups including Sports and Human Performance (SHPN) and Dietitians in Integrative and Functional Nutrition (DIFM). She is also working towards two board certifications to further serve our student-athletes: CSSD (Board Certification as a Specialist in Sports Dietetics) and IFNCP (Integrative and Functional Nutrition Certified Practitioner), combining her love for both sports nutrition and integrative and functional nutrition.

She currently lives in San Jose with her husband Kendall, one-year-old son Axel, and their dog Oates.
