FRESNO, Calif. — Santa Clara track & field won two races at the Fresno State-hosted Bulldog Invitational on Saturday. Joey Berriatua bested the competition at 1,500 meters with a 3:52.63 and Wilder Boyden topped the 3,000-meter field with an 8:27.92.
Berriatua, who won the same event at last year's Bulldog Invite, now owns three career victories on the track and has placed in the top five 14 times as a Bronco. Boyden's win is his first with the team.
Daryon Baynard led the men's side at 800 meters with a 1:55.60, good for second place. Greer Chrisman had the best placement on the women's side with a second-place 2:14.63 at 800 meters. Emma McCurry led the team with a 3,000-meter time of 10:34.60 and Bevin McCullough topped all Broncos by taking fourth place at 1,500 meters (4:49.58).
"I am very pleased with our overall attitude, approach to competition and results; there were many solid performances across the board," head coach Felipe Montoro said. "Greer and Hannah's 800-meter race was a highlight, as was the men's 1500-meter race."
