Ferris Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Santa Clara cross country/track & field's Jamie Ferris has been named to the 2018 Google Cloud CoSIDA Academic All-District® VIII Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Team. Ferris, a junior who is double-majoring in mechanical engineering and philosophy, has a 3.98 cumulative GPA. 

The Vancouver, Washington native is one of 10 student-athletes to land a spot on the all-district team. District VIII academic awards are voted on by CoSIDA members from Division I programs in Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawai'i, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Canada. 

Ferris was named West Coast Conference Cross Country All-Academic Honorable Mention in 2016 and 2017. She has also received gold honors (3.75-4.00 GPA) on the West Coast Conference's Commissioner's Honor Roll in each the last two years.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The 2017-18 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Women's Track/Cross Country Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the playing field and in the classroom. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot, with Google Cloud Academic All-America® teams announced in June.

To be nominated for CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must have completed at least one full academic year at their institution, be a significant contributor and carry a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.30 or higher.
