  • Broncos Set Commissioner's Honor Roll Record for Second Straight Year

    The West Coast Conference announced its 13th annual Commissioner's Honor Roll Tuesday, and 141 Santa Clara Broncos were recognized with honors for their athletic success and academic excellence. Santa Clara had 18 student-athletes receive gold honors (3.75-4.00 GPA) and 33 student-athletes receive silver honors (3.50-3.74 GPA). The Broncos set a new record of student athletes named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll, breaking the previous mark of 133 in the 2012-13 school year.

  • Six Santa Clara Teams Recipients of NCAA Public Recognition Awards For Academic Achievement

    Continuing its hard work in the classroom, Santa Clara's men’s outdoor track, women’s golf, women’s rowing, women’s tennis, women’s outdoor track, and women’s water polo teams were all recognized by the NCAA as recipients of the organization's Public Recognition Awards for academic achievement. The NCAA released the APR recognition by highlighting teams that demonstrated a commitment to academic progress and retention of student-athletes by achieving the top APR scores within their respective sports. Specifically, these six teams posted multi-year APRs in the top 10 percent of all squads in each sport. Also, men’s basketball recorded the highest four-year average APR for the West Coast Conference.

  • Men's Basketball Inks Aussie Native As Part Of 2014 Class

    Santa Clara head men's basketball coach Kerry Keating announced Wednesday that Australian native Kai Healy has signed a National Letter of Intent with the Broncos, joining Santa Clara’s three signees from the November 2013 signing day. The 2014 Santa Clara class is complete and includes includes Stephen Edwards (Oklahoma City, Okla.), Kai Healy (Wahroonga (Sydney), Australia), Matt Hubbard (Colville, Wash.) and Evan Wardlow (Woodland Hills, Calif.).
  • Brownridge Named Finalist For National Freshman Of The Year; Honored On Freshman All-America Team

    Already named the 2014 West Coast Conference Newcomer of the Year, Santa Clara freshman Jared Brownridge was a named as a finalist for the Kyle Macy National Freshman of the Year award on March 31 with the award going to Duke's Jabari Parker on April 4. Brownridge was also named to the 2013-14 Kyle Macy All-America Team.

    In a hard fought battle the entire night, Santa Clara’s Jared Brownridge sank a 10-footer with 10 seconds left and Gonzaga’s David Stockton scored with 1.4 seconds left to lift the Zags to a 77-75 victory in the West Coast Conference quarterfinals in Las Vegas.

    With both scoring 523+ points this season as the eighth-best tandem in school history, Santa Clara freshman Jared Brownridge and junior Brandon Clark were both honored by the West Coast Conference coaches Monday. The second-leading scorer in WCC play, Brownridge was named the Crons WCC Newcomer of the Year, All-WCC Honorable Mention and to the WCC All-Freshman team. The team’s leader in points, steal and assists, Clark was named All-WCC Honorable Mention.

  • Men Fall At LMU; Roquemore Sets Career Free Throws Record
    February 28, 2014
    After Santa Clara’s Evan Roquemore hit two free throws to break a 59-year-old school record for career free throws, LMU went on an 11-0 run in the second half to take a 45-38 lead. SCU kept battling and pulled within two twice in the final 28.9 seconds, but had to put the Lions on the free throw line and fell 75-71 in Los Angeles on Thursday night.
