  • Men's Basketball Hires Mike Peck as Assistant Coach
    August 05, 2015
    Santa Clara men's basketball head coach Kerry Keating, entering his ninth year leading the Broncos, announced the hiring of Mike Peck as an assistant coach today. Peck comes to the Mission campus from the NBA Development League where he was the head coach of the Idaho Stampede, the Portland Trail Blazers affiliate. Peck has coached under the tutelage of Terry Stotts, the head coach of the Trail Blazers, Jay Triano, an assistant for the Trail Blazers and Canadian National Team Head Coach, Lon Kruger, the head coach at the University of Oklahoma, and former UNLV head coach Charlie Spoonhour.
  • Nate Kratch Named to NABC 2014-15 Honors Court

    Nate Kratch of men’s basketball was named to The National Association of Basketball Coaches 2014-15 Honors Court today, recognizing those men’s collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the past season, with a record number of 1,000 student-athletes from more than 350 colleges and universities. The NABC Honors Court recognizes the talents and gifts that these men possess off the court and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom. @NABC1927 invites you to share the success of these student athletes using #NABC #HONORSCOURT.
  • Former Men's Basketball Player Romeo Receives Markkula Center for Applied Ethics' Hackworth Grant

    SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Former Bronco men's basketball player and current Santa Clara University graduate student Dominic Romeo is one of three students to receive a grant from SCU's Markkula Center for Applied Ethics, which announced the recipients of the Spring 2015 round of Hackworth Grants on Monday. Romeo received the maximum $2,500 grant in support of his research project, "China, Economic Growth, and Inequality."

  • Three Court Coaches Announced For 2015 USA Basketball Men's U19 World Championship Team Training Camp

    Collegiate head coaches Donnie Bostwick of Southwestern Assemblies of God University (Texas), Kerry Keating from Santa Clara University and LeVelle Motonof North Carolina Central University will serve as court coaches for the 2015 USA Basketball Men's U19 World Championship Team training camp. The USA Basketball Men's Junior National Team committee selected the court coaches.

  • Men's Basketball Scores Perfect 1,000 on APR to Raise Four-Year Average to 985

    With the release of the NCAA Academic Progress Rate data, Santa Clara men’s basketball achieved a single-year perfect score of 1,000 to raise it’s a multi-year score to 985 for the 2013-14 season marking the fourth straight annual increase in their score. The average across the NCAA for men’s basketball was 961. The Broncos score put them in the top-50 nationally and at the top of the West Coast Conference.

  • Atanga’s Sixth Year Petition Denied By The NCAA

    Santa Clara head coach Kerry Keating announced Wednesday the NCAA has denied the petition for a sixth-year for senior forward Yannick Atanga. Atanga suffered a season ending injury in the first game of the 2014-15 season. He will graduate in June 2015 with a double degree in French and Political Science and pursue a professional basketball career.

    Las Vegas, Nev. – Brandon Clark and Jared Brownridge each scored 19 points to lead the Santa Clara Broncos to an 85-54 win over LMU in the first round of the West Coast Conference tournament Friday night at the Orleans Arena. Santa Clara advances to play BYU on ESPN2 tomorrow night at 8 pm. The game will also be broadcast live on KDOW 1220 AM with David Gentile making the call.

    With a convincing 85-54 victory over LMU on Friday night, Santa Clara advances to the quarterfinals of the West Coast Conference Championship. The Broncos will now face No. 2 seed BYU on Sat., March 7 in Las Vegas at the Orleans Arena. The 8 pm game with the Cougars will be televised live on ESPN2 with Beth Mowins and Stan Heath making the call. It will also be broadcast live on KDOW 1220 AM and the Bronco website, SantaClaraBroncos.com, as part of the Bronco Radio Network. David Gentile is serving as the Broncos' play-by-play announcer throughout the tournament. Gentile is a 2012 Gonzaga graduate who has broadcast Bronco baseball and men's and women's soccer the last two years. Prior to coming to Santa Clara he did two seasons of minor league baseball.

    Fresh off its Senior Day victory vs. Saint Mary's on Saturday night, a league-high three Broncos were named to the West Coast Conference All-Academic List, including First Team member Nate Kratch. In addition, Santa Clara is scheduled to play LMU on Fri., March 6 at 8 pm in Las Vegas in the opening round of the WCC Tournament. The game will be televised live on BYUtv and Wtv.com. The winner will advance to play BYU on Saturday at 8 pm on ESPN2.

    SANTA Clara, Calif. - For the second consecutive season, Jared Brownridge’s late game heroics lifted the Broncos to a last-second victory over Bay Area rival Saint Mary’s. Down by one in the waning seconds, the sophomore guard drove through the lane, put up a shot high off the glass and kissed it home to give Santa Clara a 71-70 victory Saturday night at the Leavey Center.
