SANTA CLARA, CALIF. — Santa Clara men's rowing begins its 2014 campaign at the Davis Invitational in Davis, Calif. Sunday, where it will meet up with UC Davis and Stanford. This season's roster for second-year head coach Jay Farwell features 14 returners and 17 newcomers.

"The crew is really looking forward to this Sunday's race against some very stiff competition in Stanford University and UC Davis," Farwell said. "This is our first race of the 2014 season and will provide us with an early indication as to how well we have prepared to date. The team has worked really hard since returning from Winter break and the chemistry on the team is very solid."

"For a number of our guys, this is the start of their final rowing season and we are hoping to set the stage for a successful season," Farwell said. "We also have a number of guys that will be competing for the very first time at the Division I level — it is a great opportunity for them and I am looking forward to see how they respond to the race environment. I am very pleased with the work that we have put forth thus far and I am looking forward to getting the racing season underway."
