COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Forgive Bronco men's soccer fans if they start chanting "We want another one, just like the other one." It's just that Santa Clara's victories over then second-ranked UCLA and Fullerton last weekend were just so darn exciting.

SCU head coach Cameron Rast, on the other hand, has the unenviable task of getting his team to put the season's first two matches behind them and focus on the challenge in front of them.

For the second week in a row, the Santa Clara men's soccer team faces one of the nation's top ranked teams when it matches up at fifth-ranked Maryland Friday in Maryland adidas Classic at Ludwig Field. The match is scheduled for 5 p.m. (pacific) and will be televised live on the East Coast and tape-delayed at 9 p.m. (pacific) on the West Coast by Comcast SportsNet.

Check out Friday's SCU soccer doubleheader on Comcast SportsNet. The women play #1 ranked Notre Dame at 7 p.m., while the men's game at fifth-ranked Maryland will be shown tape-delayed at 9 p.m.

Following Friday's Maryland match, the Broncos will play Georgetown on Sunday at 2 p.m. (pacific). All four games of the tournament will feature live Internet coverage via SantaClaraBroncos.com.

"It is important for our players to understand that last week was just the season opener and not much more," said Rast. "Sure it was great to beat UCLA in what was essentially a home game for them, then to follow that up with a tough road win against a determined Fullerton side. However, now we must put those matches behind us and focus on the challenge we have this weekend against one of the best teams in the country and a dangerous Georgetown team."

Santa Clara enters Friday's match with a 2-0-0 record and number four national ranking after its 3-2 victory over UCLA and 1-0 shutout of Fullerton. Junior forward Keith DeVey was named the West Coast Conference co-Player of the Week after scoring both game winners in the waning moments of each match.

The Kula, Hawai'i native connected on a difficult shot from the right endline in the 88th minute against the Bruins, then converted a rebound of a Kelechi Igwe shot in the 86th minute at Fullerton.

The Broncos outshot their two opponents last weekend by a 31-18 margin and controlled the possession for a high percentage in both contests.

Maryland, which also played at Fullerton then traveled to UCLA on Sunday, is 1-1-0 on the season. The Terrapins defeated Fullerton by a eye-popping 7-0 margin in the match that followed the Santa Clara-UCLA contest at Titan Stadium then lost 4-0 at UCLA two days later.

The Terrapins and Broncos have played just twice all-time with each team winning by a single goal on its home field. Maryland earned a 3-2 victory at home in 1997, while Santa Clara took a 1-0 shutout the following season at Buck Shaw Stadium.

Georgetown is 2-0 on the season after winning the DC College Cup last weekend. The Hoyas defeated Howard on Friday 1-0 on an overtime goal by Sean Bellomy in the 93rd minute. On Sunday, Georgetown took a 2-0 victory over American. Santa Clara and Georgetown have never played in men's soccer.

Following the weekend's action, Santa Clara returns home on Friday, Sept. 16 for a match against local rival Stanford in the second game of a doubleheader at Buck Shaw Stadium. The fifth-ranked SCU women will host third-ranked UCLA at 5:30 p.m. in the opener.
