AT MODESTO JUNIOR COLLEGE 1998-2000: Played at Modesto Junior College under Jack Braken... earned two Central Valley Conference championships, two NorCal sectional championships, one dual team CVC championship, one NorCal Rolex Championship, two Modesto Invitational tournament titles... was twice named an All-CVC player in both singles and doubles... named the Junior college Rookie of the Year in 1999... a two-time All-American and team MVP... earned the Arthur Ashe Sportsmanship award... ranked eighth in the state in singles as a freshman and as high as second as a sophomore... ranked No. 11 in the Northern California Men's Open... member of the International Club and of the President's List, for maintaining a GPA above a 3.5.
HIGH SCHOOL: Team placed third in the CONADEIP, a national tournament of private institutions... a two-time sectional champion... as a senior, did not lose more than four games in any of the matches he played in, going 6-0 to win the sectional tournament and lead team to a berth in the national championship... named MVP of his team and the league as a senior... member of the basketball and soccer teams that represented the city of Moroleón for six consecutive years, earning multiple berths into state tournament and earning one state soccer championship... at the age of 15, represented state as a junior tennis player and competed with professionals in the National League...advanced to the semifinals of the Junior National Tournament, played on clay in Guadalajara in 1998.

Favorite Pre-game Ritual: I take a shower, I meditate for 10 minutes, I listen to Vicent Fernandez and I dedicate that day's game to somebody.
Why did you choose Santa Clara? Because of the coaches and the healthy environment on campus.
Favorite aspect of SCU Athletics: The professionalism of the people in charge of directing the sport programs.

What are your interests away from sports? I like to watch movies, coach soccer, go to the beach.
The biggest goal in your life is... to get married, speak five languages and own a restaurant.
Few people know that you... are the only person playing NCAA Division I tennis from the state of Guanajuato.
