SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Entering the WCC championships the women's crew squad is looking to become more efficient. After the WIRA Championships, the Broncos will looking to improve times and Bronco head coach John Wojtkiewicz thinks team unity has been instrumental.

"I think we've improved on team cohesion; we have been a much tighter group than we used to be," said Wojtkiewicz. "We've had some challenging situations the last few months, some planned, some unexpected, but the team we have right now is pretty tight."

Competing against the conference has brought about new meaning this year. With the new NCAA Championships automatic qualifying, all 21 crews will be racing not just to win the conference title, but to earn the right to represent their school and conference for the first time in the NCAA Championhips.

"When we race each other it won't be just for the win, but to ensure that the conference winner earns their table at the banquet as well," said Wojtkiewicz.

Despite dealing with injuries the past few weeks, Wojtkiewicz believes his crew can finish the year with a sense of accomplishment that will help the program as a jumping-off-point for next year.
