Broncos Have Seven Honored For Academics by WCC, CRCA

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – After finishing the year on the water, Santa Clara women's rowing is pulling in accolades, this time in the classroom. On May 28, members of the crew were named to both the National Scholar Athletes list by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association and to the All-West Coast Conference Academic team.

Two Broncos were named both to the WCC's All-Academic team and the CRCA's National Scholar Athlete list. Missy Giorgi and Adrienne Lohe picked up both honors.

Five Broncos were named National Scholar Athletes by the CRCA including Giorgi, Lohe, Megan Alferness, Brenda Arellano and Michileen Marie Oberst.

In order to be considered by the NRCA, athletes must have been in at least their second year of eligibility, rowed in at least 75% of the crew's races, and held a 3.5 GPA.

The other Bronco on the All-Academic team was Ana Burgos-Solis.

Oberst also picked up All-WCC Academic Honorable Mention. Carina Brocato also was given Honorable Mention. Brocato was one of two Santa Clara rowers to be named to the conferences' All-Conference team last week.
