SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Santa Clara women's rowing had two players honored on the All-WCC team after the WCC Championships on Lake Natoma Saturday.
Valerie Bright and Leila Chihab were named All-WCC for the second season in a row after taking home Preseason All-WCC honors earlier in the year.
As a team, the Broncos finished sixth in the 2V8 and V4 races, ahead of Creighton. They finished seventh in the V8 race and seventh in the overall final standings.
"I thought all three crews that we put out on the water raced really well," Santa Clara head coach Matt Pinschmidt said. :We were able to get to the line in front of Creighton with an all freshmen line-up in the 4. We were also able to finish in front of Creighton in the 2V8 with a back loaded race plan that was executed aggressively and confidently. Our V8 was really positive about their piece and I thought raced up to their potential. We are graduating a great group of seniors that will be hard to replace and will definitely be missed. The group that we have coming back is up to that challenge and is looking forward to taking on more leadership responsibilities including mentoring next year's new Santa Clara women's rowers."
