VANCOUVER, B.C. --The Santa Clara women's golf team battled inclement weather for the second straight tournament as they got underway at the Shaugnessy Invitational, and wrapped things up Monday tied for fourth place with a combined score of 646 (330, 316).

Due to heavy rain on Sunday, only 18 holes were played. Samantha Trask and Ella Sanman were the team's top two performers, each turning in rounds of 81. The weather was once again a test for the entire team, who held strong mentally thanks to their offseason preparation. Unfortunately, Sunday's conditions just made the course at the Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club a difficult one to play.

Monday's final round was much nicer, with crystal clear skies. Senior Samantha Trask took full advantage, and shot 74, equal to her best round of the season. Despite hitting only 5 greens on the day, Trask needed only 23 putts, demonstrating the strength of her short game for the second straight week. With her combined score of 155, Trask finished in a four-way tie for 4th place.

Behind Trask, Ella Sanman and Corey Utsurogi both finished with combined scores of 162, while Jennifer Sun and Megan Stoddart both had scores of 169. The team will continue working on their short games in preparation for their next event which will be the Cal Poly Invitational, on November 6th and 7th from Arroyo Grande, Calif.
