Box Score

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Santa Clara University senior pitcher Jaime Forman-Lau tossed a perfect game in the Broncos' opener against San Diego, striking out nine of the 15 Toreros she faced. Sophomore outfielder Jessica Clee added a grand slam to straightaway centerfield in the second inning en route to the 9-0 Bronco victory. Santa Clara took the second game 5-4 score and improve to 26-23 overall, 12-4 in Pacific Coast Softball Conference action.

This marks Forman-Lau's second perfect game against San Diego as she earned her first feat on April 19, 2003, striking out 14.

Offensively, the Broncos were unstoppable in the first game as they recorded 10 hits and nine runs. The game lasted only five innings as stipulated by the eight-run rule.

In the second game, after trailing San Diego by two runs going into the bottom of the sixth, Santa Clara strung together two hits and took advantage of a Torero error to score three runs for a 5-4 win. Freshman Angela Kabanuck came up with the clutch hit that put Santa Clara on path to the comeback victory. As a result, the Toreros fall to 16-30, 3-13.

Forman-Lau pitched the second match for the Broncos as well to conclude the day 22-16.

Forman-Lau also broke a school record this weekend in career strikeouts, as she surpassed the old record of 504, throwing her 505th career strikeout on Saturday. She started Saturday's game with 502 and struck out three Torero batters in the bottom of the first to place her in the number one spot. She concluded yesterday's action with 513 career strikeouts, and today's play with 530.

The Bronco's finish up the regular season on the road next weekend with a four-game series against Sacramento State. Saturday and Sunday doubleheaders are set to begin at noon.
