Head Coach Jon Wallace
On the win:
"This win means a lot to this team, as tough as we are, we needed to play well and not only improve our quality of volleyball but also our self-esteem, and I think we got off to a good start in doing that tonight," said head coach Jon Wallace. "We're not where we need to be, but tonight's a good start of us climbing back and getting on the ball here."
On the offensive production of Anna Cmaylo, Kim McGiven and Brittany Lowe:
"Going into this game, and the rest of this season, for that matter, we need Brittany Lowe, Anna Cmaylo and Kim McGiven to play great. Not good, but great. Brittany passed and dug extremely well, she got us a ton of points on her serve. Kim had no errors tonight, seemd to be getting after it, and that's what we need. Anna found success tonight playing with Lindsy. We just need those three to be playing really well, and tonight they did."
Middle Blocker Anna Cmaylo
On the win:
"It was so important that we really didn't pay attention to who we were playing against, it was more just having the good feeling back, playing together as a team, and having excitement and energy on our side. I think we lost that somewhere along the way, but today that was what it was all about. We were just playing to be excited and enjoy the game again."
On the team building momentum in Thursday's match:
"We were better physically today than we have been. It really helps when people are putting balls away and passing really well, but on top of that we just had really good energy. When we'd get one good point, it would lead to a string of points,, and in volleyball it is about momentum, and we had that tonight."
Outside Hitter Kim McGiven:
On the win:
"This was great. I think one of the best things for us tonight was that a lot of things we'd been working on in practice were executed tonight. It's good that the things that we've been practicing are coming into play, and we can carry that into our match on Saturday night. In addition to the momentum of the win, there's also the execution factor, which is something that is really going to help us. Our defense is something in particular that we've been working on, and it showed tonight, we had discipline, we dug a lot of balls, and we kept ourselves in the match."
On the team leaders stepping up:
"As a team, we still have high expectations for ourselves, and a lot of that comes down to what we can do and put together. I thought Caroline did a great job leading the team tonight, and if she can continue to do that the rest of the year, it is really going to help us. Offensively, Anna and I need to carry a heavy load and need to bring it every match."
