SANTA CLARA, Calif. - After solidifying herself as one of the nation's most dominant and reliable attackers in 2006, Santa Clara middle blocker Anna Cmaylo received All-America honorable mention recognition from the AVCA, joining Becky Potter (`04) as only the second two-time All-American in SCU volleyball history. The junior from Napa also earned third-team All-America honors last year.

"I can't be more proud of Anna for how hard she worked this season, her work ethic and effort this season were major reasons for her success," said head coach Jon Wallace. "Anna absolutely deserves this honor and I'm sure she will work even harder and come back even better next season."

In 2006, Cmaylo was one of the most feared hitters in the nation, racking up 3.89 kills a game from her spot in the middle and putting kills down at an incredible .405 success rate. That figure easily led all hitters in the West Coast Conference, ranked eighth among all attackers in the nation, and set a new single-season Santa Clara record. Her kills per game rate was seventh in the conference, while her total of 1.12 blocks a game ranked eighth in the WCC.

Making Cmaylo's stat line all the more impressive is that fact that she played nine matches in the middle of the season with a new setter, as freshman Lindsy Evans stepped in and admirably filled the role in place of 2005 All-America setter Crystal Matich. Even with the sudden change, Cmaylo quickly adjusted and continued her dominant play in helping the Broncos to a 20-8 mark, the team's fourth 20-win season in the last five years, and to the program's ninth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.

Only a junior, Cmaylo will return in 2007 with the chance to become Santa Clara's first-ever three-time All-American, and firmly claim her spot as one of the best volleyball players in SCU history.
