SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara Volleyball head coach Jon Wallace has continued his work in building and maintaining his SCU program for success with the signing of a pair of talented student-athletes in middle blocker Erin Bragg from Clovis and outside hitter Krista Kelley from Utah. Both Bragg and Kelley will attend Santa Clara in the fall of 2007.
"We are really excited to add Erin and Krista to the Santa Clara program, not only are both of these girls strong, athletic, and extremely competitive, but they are also the type of quality people and student-athletes that embody the Santa Clara way," Wallace said.
Bragg, a 6-2 middle blocker from Buchanan High School in Clovis, Calif., has starred on the varsity team for four years, and earned All-Conference honors in her sophomore and junior years while helping lead Buchanan to conference titles in each of the last three years.
"Erin is going to fit in very well with our group of girls," Wallace said of Bragg. "With her skill set, she will be able to come in and contribute and be a solid component on the floor for us."
Kelley, a 6-2 outside hitter at Brighton High School in Utah, has been one of the centerpieces for a Bengals team that 30-1 in 2006 and won the school's first-ever state title earlier this month. She put down 19 kills in the title-game win en route to earning Tournament MVP honors, and for the season averaged 4.51 kills a game and hit .333 on the season.
"Krista really adds to the talent that we have in this program, she will be our tallest, and quite possibly also our strongest outside hitter next year," Wallace noted on Kelly. "She is definitely strong enough to come in and make a difference for us next season."
