Volleyball Falls In Three At No. 12 San Diego

Santa Clara was swept by No. 12 San Diego on the road on Saturday at Jenny Craig Pavilion.  With the 25-15, 25-17, 25-10 win, the Toreros improve to 13-3 overall, move to 4-2 in the WCC.  The Broncos fall to 7-9 overall and 2-6 in the WCC.

Santa Clara returns home Oct. 17 for a 7 pm match vs. Pacific and then a 1 pm match on Oct. 19 vs. Saint Mary's.

SCU hit .092 with 27 kills (18 e, 98 att.).  The Broncos collected two service aces, five service errors, five team blocks, 26 assists and 29 digs.  San Diego hit .340 with 47 kills (13 e, 100 att.).  San Diego collected three service aces, one service error, six team blocks, 44 assists and 50 digs.

Playing without three-year starter Taylor Milton this entire weekend, the Broncos were led by nine kills from Nikki Hess.  Megan Anders and Haley Cameron both scored seven kills each.  Alyssa Anderson had 25 assists.  Mary Shepherd led the team with six digs.

Chloe Ferrari led all players with 11 kills and she recorded four blocks, one solo. Taylor Hollins also recorded double-digit kills with 10, while also recording eight digs. Leading the offense, Jianna Bonomi had 18 assists and Rachel Alvey had 17 assists.  C'era Oliveira led the team with 12 digs.
