Broncos Finish Third in WWPA Conference Tournament

Santa Clara, Calif. - Santa Clara women's water polo knocked off Colorado State 12-7 Sunday afternoon to finish the WWPA Conference Tournament in third place. UC San Diego toppled LMU 10-8 in the championship game to finish in the top spot.

Santa Clara finishes the season at 16-17 overall and 6-3 in conference.

The Broncos were led by Alison Norris, who scored two goals in the third and one in the second, and Julia Peters, who scored one in the first, second and fourth periods to combine for six of the Broncos 12 goals. 

Claire Eadington and Katilyn Murphy chipped in with two goals. Elle Surber and Jamie Swartz added one apiece. 

In goal for the Broncos, Stephanie Clements notched 11 saves. 

Colorado State struggled to find an offensive rhythm, with just one multi-goal scorer in Ariel Arcidiacono notching two. Five other players for Colorado State found the net once.

In net for the Rams, Melissa Fisher recorded four saves and Michelle Slagle had three.

In the seventh place game, Cal State East Bay beat Cal State San Bernardino 11-7 and Cal State Monterey Bay defeated Sonoma State 10-7 in the fifth place game.
