Six Santa Clara Teams Recipients of NCAA Public Recognition Awards For Academic AchievementMay 16, 2014Continuing its hard work in the classroom, Santa Clara's men’s outdoor track, women’s golf, women’s rowing, women’s tennis, women’s outdoor track, and women’s water polo teams were all recognized by the NCAA as recipients of the organization's Public Recognition Awards for academic achievement. The NCAA released the APR recognition by highlighting teams that demonstrated a commitment to academic progress and retention of student-athletes by achieving the top APR scores within their respective sports. Specifically, these six teams posted multi-year APRs in the top 10 percent of all squads in each sport. Also, men’s basketball recorded the highest four-year average APR for the West Coast Conference.

Broncos Finish Fourth In GCC Conference TournamentApril 28, 2014After picking up a 10-8 victory vs. No. 7 seed Azusa Pacific on day one of the Golden Coast Conference Championship, the No. 3 seed Broncos dropped their next two games to No. 2 seed LMU and No. 5 seed Pacific. With a 1-2 record, the Broncos finished fourth at the first-ever GCC Championship.

The GCC Championship will begin on April 24 at the Burns Recreation and Aquatic Center on the Loyola Marymount campus in Los Angeles.

Five Broncos Receive Golden Coast Conference HonorsApril 22, 2014The year of firsts for the Golden Coast Conference continues in its inaugural season as the league announced its 2014 GCC All-Conference selections on Tuesday. LMU's Alexandra Honny was named the Player of the Year and San Diego State's Ioli Benekou was named Newcomer of the Year, as voted on by the league's seven head coaches.

The Broncos were able to shut out the Aggies in the final quarter to win the game 11-10. The Broncos finished the regular season 16-11.

No. 18 Broncos Win in Final Second Over Cal BaptistApril 18, 2014In the final conference game of the season the No. 18 Broncos hosted Cal Baptist at the Sullivan Aquatic Center. After battling up and down the pool, the Broncos were able to pull off the 15-14 win in the final seconds of the game and seal the No. 3 seed for conference championships.

No. 19 Broncos Drop Conference Game; Pick Up Win Over Sonoma StateApril 13, 2014The No. 19 Broncos faced conference rival No. 20 San Diego State on April 11 and traveled to Sonoma State on their senior day on April 12. The Broncos fell in a close game to the Aztecs but were able to defeat the Seawolves. The Broncos are now 14-11 heading into their final games of the season.

Julia Peters Named GCC Co-Player of the WeekApril 10, 2014Julia Peters of the No. 19 Broncos women’s water polo team has been named Golden Coast Conference Co-Player of the Week. Lead by Peters, the Broncos went 3-0 this past weekend, including two conference wins over Fresno Pacific and the University of Pacific.
