EYEBRONCO: Long Road Of Recovery Is A Success For Cross Country's Ezana Tesfu

EYEBRONCO: SEE SARAH'S INTERVIEW WITH EZANA TESFU ON HIS LONG ROAD BACK!

About a year ago, Bronco cross country senior Ezana Tesfu was re-learning how to walk. His vision was poor and he didn't even remember the two weeks he spent in the hospital after a serious head injury from a skateboarding accident on Oct. 16 when he was returning home from a night at the library. Running again was possible someday in the future, but unlikely during his time left as a Bronco.

This week, he is gearing up for the Santa Clara Bronco Invite on Saturday, October 13 at Baylands Park in Sunnyvale. Through tough rehabilitation and tremendous support from his family, friends, and the Bronco community, he is back on the cross country squad this year and contributing to a great season so far.

Sarah Safir '12 had the chance to sit down with Tesfu and hear about his inspiring story, his gratitude for his friends and family, and how tough it has been to get to where he is today. Also, serving as this year's president of the Ruff Riders, Tesfu has a contagiously positive spirit that will rally students together to support all Bronco sports in his final year on the Mission Campus.

Last year's Bronco Invite saw a great turnout of Ruff Riders and fellow student-athletes supporting men's and women's cross country, so make sure to make your way over to Baylands Park on Saturday and support the student-athletes and maybe give a little extra cheer when you see Tesfu run by!

Go Broncos!
