Men's Golf Finishes Eighth at WCC Tourney

MADERA, Calif. - The Santa Clara University men's golf team placed eighth at the West Coast Conference Championship, hosted at Riverbed Golf Club in Madera.

The Broncos carded a 324 in today's final round and finished with a three-round total of 921. Pepperdine won its 12th league championship since 1990 with a four-over 868. Saint Mary's placed second, just two strokes back, while San Francisco earned third place, with an 874. San Diego (891) moved ahead of Loyola Marymount (892) in the final round to complete the top five.

The Broncos were led by Michael Nicoletti, who tied for 21st after carding an 11-over 227. He finished one stroke ahead of teammate Matt Klenz, who placed 23rd. Justin Ahasic finished at 235, tying for 26th place, Jonathan Edwards finished with a 235 and Jong Yoon at 255.

Don Robert Frye bested teammate Tyler Pitt by one stroke to win the individual competition at eight-under 208.

Santa Clara will conclude the spring season at the U.S. Intercollegiate, hosted by Stanford this weekend.
