STOCKTON, Calif. - The Santa Clara University men's golf team rose two spots after a final round team score of 294 finished them in a tie for seventh place at the season-opening Pacific Invitational in Stockton, Calif. The two day, three round event was played at the par-72 Reserve at Spanos Park.

"This was a very good tournament to begin our season," said head coach John Kennaday. "We raised some eyebrows with our play in round two, but I was very pleased with how well we played overall. We realize some of the things that we need to improve on and will spend time working on those things in preparation for our next tournament."

The Broncos finished the two day event with a team score of 879 for the three rounds, tied with Fresno State and San Francisco. Georgia Southern won the tournament by four strokes over Cal State Northridge, despite shooting a 289 on the final day, four shots higher than the Matadors.

Matt Klenz was the top finished for SCU, ending the tournament in a tie for 11th place after a final round of 1-under par, 71. His three round total of even-par, 216, was two shots better than teammate Jong Yoon. Yoon, who was competing in his first collegiate tournament, shot a 2-over par, 74 on the final day to finish at 2-over par, 218 for the tournament.
