Santa Clara Men's Soccer Drops WCC Contest at 8th-Ranked San Diego

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Santa Clara University men's soccer team played its final road game of the season Friday night, dropping a 1-0 decision at eighth-ranked San Diego at Torero Stadium.

The Broncos outshot USD by a 16-12 margin in the match, while junior goalkeeper Rusty Johnson (O'Fallon, Ill.) led the SCU defense with five saves. The Broncos substituted just two players in the game, junior Tony Cota (Santa Clara, Calif.) and sophomore transfer Jamil Walker (Pittsford, N.Y.).

USD scored on a Ryan Conier goal at the 26:19 mark of the first half off a Scott Burscar assist. Conier is the leading scorer in the WCC.

The Broncos return home for their final three games of the season beginning Nov. 2 against Saint Mary's. That match is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff at Buck Shaw Stadium.
