No. 14 Men's Water Polo Home Opener Preview

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The No. 14 Bronco men's water polo team will be playing their home opener this weekend, Oct. 2, against Bay Area rival No. 7 Pacific. The Broncos are currently 7-5 after going 3-2 at the Aggie Shootout last weekend. The Broncos and the Tigers met twice last season, with the Tigers coming away with the win both times. This season, the Tigers are 9-3 and on a four game winning streak after sweeping all three of their games at the Aggie Shootout this past weekend. The Tigers will face No. 3 Cal on Oct. 3 at home before facing the Broncos on Oct. 4.

Sophomore Ben Stevenson leads the Tigers so far this season with 32 goals followed by Hungary native, junior Krisztian Laczkovics with 21 goals. The Tigers are averaging nearly 14 goals scored per game.

The Broncos are lead by senior Mark Davis who has 24 goals in 12 games played. Close behind is sophomore Graham McClone, who has 19 goals. Redshirt senior Matt Pritchett has anchored the Bronco defense this season tallying 131 blocks.

After this weekend, the Broncos will play their first conference games of the season, traveling down to Southern California to take on Cal Baptist on Oct. 10 as well as a nonconference game on Oct. 11 against Redlands.
