Casidhe McClone: Music Notes and Water Strokes

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Redshirt senior Casidhe McClone (CM) of the men's water polo team spoke with Santa Clara Broncos (SCB) about the pool, the other McClone on the team, and his band.

By Ben Dines '15

SCB: How was your summer? What did you do to stay busy?

CM: My summer was a blast! I played a lot of water polo, recorded some music and worked in the legal department for a company in Santa Cruz.

SCB: How are you acting as a role model to the freshmen on the men's water polo team?

CM: I hope that I am showing them that even seniors on the team need to work hard, and that there is no shame in feeling winded after a swim set or conditioning. I'd also like to think that they can come to me with any questions concerning academics.

SCB: What is it like having your brother on the team?

CM: It's a blast being able to play with my brother. He is insanely talented and it is incredible to witness him in the pool. Being on the same team as him has easily been the highlight of my time at Santa Clara.

SCB: You are part of a band the "Citrus Sound."  How do you balance your music, athletics and academics?  And how do these influence each other?

CM: Those activities tend to feed each other. Many professors have come to Citrus Sound shows, and Matt Pritchett (who is also in the band and on the team) and I have been able to get some Citrus Sound fans to show up at water polo games. If anything, the different activities have served to unify my experience at Santa Clara, as weird as that sounds!

SCB: What are your goals for this season?

CM: Win WWPAs!
