Men's Water Polo Hosts Final Three Games of Season

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The No. 18 Bronco men's water polo team will host top ranked opponents for their final three games of the season this week. On Nov. 12 the Broncos are set to play neighboring No. 2 Stanford at 6 pm, on Nov. 14 they will host No. 10 Pepperdine at 7 pm and on Nov. 16 a conference game against the No. 14 UC Davis Aggies for the Broncos Senior Day. 

On Nov. 16 the Broncos will be honoring seniors Matt Kochalko, David Guibord, Kyle Nadel, Matt Pritchett, Mark Davis and Casidhe McClone.

The neighboring Cardinal have remained a top-5 team all season long, posting a 20-3 record. The Cardinal are lead by junior Bret Bonanni who has netted 70 goals. The Cardinal have young talent in the cage, with sophomore Drew Holland who has recorded 183 saves and averages only six goals allowed per game.

Up next, the Broncos will face the Pepperdine Waves. Three Southern California players lead the offense for the Waves. Redshirt junior Luke Hewko leads the with 45 goals, followed by junior Wesley Sherburne with 35, and redshirt senior Jake Schrimpf rounds out the offense, tallying 32 goals, 21 assists and eight steals.

To end their season, the Broncos host conference rival UC Davis for their Senior Day. The outcome of this game will determine the seeding for the WWPA Conference Championship hosted by Loyola Marymount. UC San Diego has secured the No. 1 seed for the tournament, going 6-0.

The Broncos and the Aggies matched up earlier this season at The Rodeo tournament hosted by the Broncos. After a hard fought game, the two teams took it into overtime where the Aggies defeated the Broncos with a 7-6-overtime win. The Broncos will look to even the score this weekend and defeat the Aggies.

Junior Sean Grab leads the Aggies in goals with 58 and senior Chris Richardson falls in second with 49.  Grab netted two overtime goals in the last matchup that won the Aggies the game.
