SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Santa Clara men’s water polo team is on the road again after winning four of five games at the annual Rodeo last weekend.  Thursday, they faced 17th ranked UC San Diego (UCSD).

The Broncos kept the Tritons in check the first half, with the score tied 2-2 entering halftime. UCSD kicked into another gear in the third quarter, scoring six goals and holding SCU to only 1. That lead would stay for the rest of the game, and the Tritons took the win with a final score of 9-5.

Santa Clara had five players all score one goal, including WWPA Player of the Week Graham McClone. McClone now has 13 goals in the last six games. Senior Evan Chang again earned three ejections for the Broncos.

Goalkeeper Joe Maestri anchored the Santa Clara defense with 13 saves.

The Broncos will wrap up their weekend with another conference matchup against No. 15 Loyola Marymount on Saturday at 12 noon.
