SCU Women's Basketball Releases 2012-13 Schedule; Broncos to Host Stanford, Fresno State, UNLV

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Santa Clara University women's basketball team unveiled its 2012-13 schedule today, which includes non-conference home games against Stanford, Fresno State and UNLV. Under the direction of fifth-year head coach Jennifer Mountain, the Bronco roster boasts five seniors and 13 returners overall.

"There are high expectations on the upcoming season and I am thrilled to get underway here in a few weeks," said Mountain, who has increased SCU's win-total in each of her seasons on the Mission Campus. "Opening weekend includes Stanford at home, which will be an opportunity to play a Final Four team on our floor. It will also allow us to display our talent to the Bay Area."

The Broncos will host a pair of exhibition games during the first week of November before officially opening the year with home games against UC Irvine (Friday, Nov. 9) and Stanford (Sunday, Nov. 11).

All-WCC seniors, guard Meagan Fulps (Littleton, Colo.) and forward Lindsay Leo (San Jose, Calif.), figure to lead a squad that also welcomes the return of 6-foot-4 senior center Ruta Zurauskyte (Siauliai, Lithuania) along with starting guards, senior Ashley Armstrong (Reno, Nev.) and junior Ricki Radanovich (Diablo, Calif.). "I'm looking forward to the fact that our fans will get to see us at home for the majority of November, and we have a chance to display our senior dominated team," added Mountain.

The University of Nevada's Thanksgiving tournament and other regional games at Pacific (Tuesday, Nov. 20), San Jose State (Wednesday, Dec. 12) and UC Davis (Sunday, Dec. 16) highlight the non-conference road schedule prior to Fresno State (Saturday, Dec. 29) and UNLV (Monday, Dec. 31) visiting the Leavey Center just before West Coast Conference play begins in January.

The Broncos have added four new players for 2012-13, including prep guards, Katie Hawkins (Snohomish, Wash.) and Brooke Gallaway (Greenacres, Wash.). At 5-feet 11-inches, Hawkins should add another dimension to Santa Clara's backcourt, while Gallaway is coming off a senior season in which she was named the Greater Spokane League (GSL) MVP.

The first chance to watch the Broncos this season will be on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. when UC Santa Cruz comes to the Leavey Center for the first of two preseason exhibition games.

SCU's 2012-13 WCC schedule tips off at Portland (Thursday, Jan. 3), followed by a road date with Gonzaga (Saturday, Jan. 5). The bulk of the Broncos' WCC home slate comes in late January and early February, beginning with rivalry games against San Francisco (Saturday, Jan. 19) and St. Mary's (Thursday, Jan. 24).

Fans can purchase tickets online, over the phone at 408-554-4660 or at the SCU ticket office. Season tickets for all 16 home games start at $52 for adults and $40 for youth and seniors. The SCU athletic department is also offering a season ticket 'Family Plan,' which includes five tickets to every home game for just $100.
