Four Women's Basketball Players Honored for Work in the Classroom

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Continuing to excel on the court and in the classroom, Santa Clara women's basketball had four players honored on the West Coast Conference All-Academic Team. Meagan Fulps and Ruta Zurauskyte were named to the All-Academic Team while Nici Gilday and Ricki Radanovich were Honorable Mention.

Santa Clara wraps-up regular season play tomorrow Sat., March 2 at 1 p.m. at the Leavey Center for Senior Day vs. San Diego.

"From day one, when we're recruiting them, I think they understand that academics is more important than basketball," said Santa Clara head coach Jennifer Mountain. "What you do with the four years hear and how seriously you take your academics can set you up for a job when you walk out of here. Our girls have done a great job of taking it seriously and they really enjoy school academically and the challenges that it brings. I'm really proud to have four people recognized by the conference because it means we're doing it in both areas which is important."

Fulps leads the team in scoring with 10.8 points per game. She adds 3.2 rebounds per game, 2.1 assists per game and 1.7 steals per game.

Zurauskyte is second on the team in scoring at 10.2 ppg and leads the team with 49.3 percent shooting. Zurauskyte leads the Broncos with 7.1 rpg and is averaging 1.1 blocks per game.

Radanovich averages 10.2 ppg and has hit a WCC-high 61 threes. Radanovich also leads the Broncos with 1.8 spg while grabbing 2.6 rpg and dishing out 2.5 apg.
