SANTA CLARA, Calif. – For Megan Fulps (MF), the spring quarter marks the end of an era, the end of her time as a Bronco athlete.  SantaClaraBroncos.com (SCB) had the chance to speak with Fulps about her time as a student-athlete, her favorite moments, as well as her plans for the future. 

Fulps ranks 11^th all-time in SCU history in career scoring average (11.3), has eight 20+ scoring games as a Bronco and has 962 career points.  During this past season, she scored 1,297 career points and ranks 7^th all time for points scored.

SCB: How have you enjoyed your experience here at Santa Clara as a part of the women's basketball team?

MF: Its been an incredible experience with this team. We've become extremely close over the past four years and have really grown up together. Having the opportunity to have a bond as tight as we do is something special and I feel blessed to have been apart of it.

SCB: What is one thing you will miss about being on a collegiate sports team?

MF: I will miss being able to spend everyday playing the sport I love with my best friends. Nothing greater than the friendships we created and being able to build those from a common passion.

SCB: If you could leave the team with a piece of advice, what would it be?

MF: Never forget how much you love the game— there will be obstacles to overcome and nothing will be perfect … but never stop loving it. Never treat it like a job, play because you love it.

SCB: How did your training differ from when you played basketball in high school?

MF: The level of play and workouts intensify immensely. College basketball is on another plane completely in comparison to high school. You learn more about yourself and your potential because we are pushed further than you ever think you can go.

SCB: What do you plan to do following graduation? Are you planning to stay in the bay or return home?

MF: I will be moving to LA to pursue my film career.

SCB: What has been your favorite class at Santa Clara? Do you have a favorite professor?

MF: Favorite class was by far Master Shot Production. We built a 1930s speakeasy set and filmed a drama. It was a great experience and we had a blast. Michael Whalen taught that class and I've been lucky enough to have him for all my production courses. He's been an incredible professor and mentor to all of us film students.

SCB: Is there something you may not have been able to accomplish here as a Bronco that you would have liked to? 

MF: I would have absolutely loved to study abroad and experience another culture. I've never been out of the country and am dying to do so! Hopefully soon.

SCB: What is something Santa Clara may not know about you or the women's basketball team?

MF: We are a self-proclaimed WEIRD team. We are filled with a bunch of exceptionally strange, awkward and insane girls! It's like a puzzle— individually we are all massively different yet we mesh perfectly together. It's kind of a beautiful thing.
