SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Finishing the regular season with Senior Day, Santa Clara women's basketball takes on San Diego at the Leavey Center at 1 p.m. on Sat., March 2. The Broncos fell to Saint Mary's on Feb. 28 65-56 to move to 14-14 overall and 6-9 in West Cost Conference play.

San Diego is 19-8 overall this season and 11-4 in the WCC. The game vs. Santa Clara is the lone game of the week for the Toreros.  Earlier this season San Diego took down Santa Clara 59-48.

"We have to take advantage of the opportunities that were given to us," said Santa Clara head coach Jennifer Mountain. "I thought we missed a lot of easy buckets in the first matchup. We have to do a better job of containing the offensive glass for them by putting a body on somebody. The other part is going to be slowing them in transition since they like to get out and go. A lot of that is predicated off of boards so we have to make sure we do a good job of crashing the boards and giving ourselves second opportunities."

The Broncos took positives away from the first matchup this season with the Toreros and know that they will have to play well in those aspects again.

"We got good looks at the basket in the first game but didn't shoot very well," said Mountain. "Our inside play was also good. It is going to be important for us this time to have balanced inside-out scoring. It's Senior Day, it's a big environment so we should have a big crowd and there's a lot at stake so it should be a great game."

Santa Clara shoots 38.8 percent from the field and 31.4 percent from three-point range. Senior Meagan Fulps leads the team in scoring with 10.8 points per game. Fulps adds 3.2 rebounds per game, 2.1 assists per game and 1.7 steals per game. Ruta Zurauskyte is second on the team in scoring at 10.2 ppg and leads the team with 49.3 percent shooting. Zurauskyte leads the Broncos with 7.1 rpg and is averaging 1.1 blocks per game. Ricki Radanovich averages 10.2 ppg and has hit a WCC-high 61 threes. Radanovich also leads the Broncos with 1.8 spg while grabbing 2.6 rpg and dishing out 2.5 apg. Raquel Avila leads the team with 3.0 apg while scoring 4.4 ppg. Nici Gilday has shown a complete game, averaging 7.4 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 2.5 apg and 1.1 bpg.

"This is my first recruiting class and the group that helped bring Santa Clara to where it is right now," Mountain of the senior class. "I love them all individually and so many of the things they do off the court are just tremendous. I'm so proud of them. As far as what they've done on the court, they're responsible for getting the program back to where we are right now. I'm very proud of a lot of individual players. This group has been through a lot. A lot of losses, a lot of wins, a lot of ups and down, a lot of injuries and resilience has been a huge part of who they are and their character. They're great people and they'll do great things in the future."

The Toreros are 19-8 overall with a 6-4 mark on the road and 11-4 in the WCC. They have picked up wins vs. Boise State, Long Beach State and two wins over Saint Mary's. San Diego fell at Arizona State and has lost twice to WCC-champion Gonzaga.

As a team the Toreros shoot 43.9 percent from the floor, tops in the conference, and 30.2 percent from three. They are outscoring opponents by 7.5 ppg and outrebounding opponents 6.8 ppg. Their +6.8 rebounding margin is second in the conference while they lead the WCC with 5.1 bpg.

Amy Kame is second on the WCC in ppg with 16.1 on 40.4 percent shooting and 34.4 percent from downtown. She adds 4.5 rpg and a team-high 4.0 apg and 2.6 spg. Maya Hood scores 10.6 ppg on a conference-best 55.6 field goal percentage. Hood grabs 4.8 rpg and 1.7 spg. Katelyn McDaniel is also averaging 10.6 ppg while shooting 53.5 percent from the field. She is second on the team with 6.8 rpg. Klara Wischer leads the Toreros with 7.3 rpg while scoring 7.3 ppg. Sophia Ederaine is tops in the conference with 1.9 bpg and scores 4.8 ppg while grabbing 3.5 rpg.

"Amy Kame is going to be a big matchup for us and so will Maya Hood," said Mountain. "We have got to limit Kame's touches and I thought we did a pretty good job the first time around. This team is very disciplined in getting back cuts and shots that are close by executing. Maya Hood is really playing well. She's getting layups and causing a lot of trouble. This is a team that wears you down and tries to get layups and uncontested jumpers."
