PALO ALTO, Calif. - Santa Clara University golfer Miki Ueoka - a 2009 NCAA Tournament qualifier - finished 7th overall at Stanford's Peg Barnard Invitational this weekend in Palo Alto. The junior from Lihue, Hawaii, shot a 2-over par 73 in final round play Sunday.

It was the first tournament of the spring season for Santa Clara, who entered five players, including Tammy Surtees who shot a final round 79 and finished in a tie for 37th.

"This was an outstanding field, with seven of the 11 teams ranked in the top 37 nationally," said Santa Clara head coach Polly Schulze. "Scoring across the board for all the teams was not great so we aren't taking it too hard that our scores were higher than we liked."

Conditions were tough, as morning fog took players off the course for nearly two hours until conditions improved around 10 a.m. Four Pac-10 Conference schools topped the team leaderboard in a field that also included the University of Texas, Long Beach State University and the University of Hawaii.
