Brooke Stephens Signs NLI to Play Golf at Santa Clara

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Santa Clara University women's golf program and head coach Polly Schulze have received a National Letter of Intent from prep golfer Brooke Stephens (Durham, Calif./IMG Academy [Florida]) to study at Santa Clara and play for the Broncos in 2010-11.

For the past two years, Stephens has attended the IMG Leadbetter Golf Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Stephens was the top player at Pleasant Valley High School (Chico, Calif.) as a freshman and sophomore before transferring to the IMG Academy, which offers a comprehensive school experience, including a challenging academic curriculum, Advanced Placement courses, college counseling and competitive interscholastic athletics.

"Having already been in an environment that pushes her to be dedicated and committed, Brooke will have no problem transitioning into being a collegiate student-athlete," said Schulze. "She will represent Santa Clara with style and class and I look forward to her arrival in September."

Stephens won medalist honors at the Bidwell Park Girls Championship (Chico, Calif.) in 2007, 2008, and 2009. She also tied for first place at the First Tee of Sacramento Tournament at Winchester Country Club last July. Stephens claimed league and section medalist honors in the fall of 2007, while playing for Pleasant Valley.
