The Bronco track teams hit the ground running this weekend when they ran at Stanford and at SF State after three weeks off due to finals and the Fresno State meet being cancelled due to bad weather. Both teams made the best of the time off and ran well Friday, posting many personal bests.

"A lot of athletes set lifetime bests today, and that is always a good thing. The women's middle distance runners ran particularly well led by Allie Sibole, they all performed great. We are all looking forward to a solid week of training next week and gearing up for the last month of the season," said Bronco head coach Felipe Montoro.

The track team has a week off before returning to competition at the Mt. Sac Relays and the UC Davis Woody Wilson Invite.

Sibole's 4:36.11 1500m highlighted some good performances by the Bronco track teams this weekend. The time was a personal best and second all-time at SCU. Sibole placed fifth overall in the 1500m, leading several other women to personal bests. Junior Hayley Ney ran a seasonal best of 4:41.76 and Junior Erin Hartwig ran a personal best of 4:44.31.  Also running well were freshman Jenn Nakamura (4:50.42, PR) and junior Mary Reynolds (4:56.30).

Senior Erin McCarthy also competed in the 1500m, but at the Stanford Invitational. McCarthy placed eighth in her heat in a time of 4:38.63, just off the school record she set earlier this year of 4:36.05.

Richard Zhu led the men in the 1500m, crossing the line in 4:00.53. Senior Matt Wagner ran 4:07.37, a mere .02 seconds off his lifetime best.

In the 800m, Erin Hartwig's heat win and personal best led the way for SCU. Hartwig ran 2:17.57. Also competing in the women's 800m were: Sibole (2:18.12), Ney (2:19.10), Nakamura (2:19.59), Jenny Light (2:21.08) and Hannah Peterson (2:30.23).

Zhu also led the men in the 800m, running 1:56.32. He was closely followed by Matt Mosier who ran 1:56.57, a lifetime best. Redshirt-freshman Andrew Gaddis finished in 2:04.75.

Lauren Germany ran well in the women's two mile race, clocking 11:43.60.

In the women's 5000m, freshman Mary Kriege ran an 11-second lifetime best, running 17:31.63. Sophomore Kayla Germany ran a personal best of 18:21.64. Freshman Alex Garcia took 19 seconds off her personal best running 18:24.40. Nicole Giove finished in 18:32.43, Jamie Anderson set a lifetime best, running 18:53.26 and Audrey Hiatt ran 19:12.85.

The men's 5000m was led by Kevin Oliver. Oliver ran 15:15.25. Also competing were: Sean Roe (15:34.22), Austin Jones (15:37.29), Chris Sampson (15:39.89) Bryan Crook (15:40.46) and Tony Ferrari (15:46.00).
