LAKE NATOMA, Calif. - Santa Clara University women's crew placed fifth at the WCC Championships today with eight total points in the three races. The Broncos took third in the I-Four and fifth in the I-Eight races and fifth in the II-Eight race. Gonzaga, the favorite coming into the weekend, claimed its 12th conference title, winning the I-Eight and the II-Eight races while San Diego claimed the top spot in the I-Four race.

Santa Clara started off the morning strong with their best finish of the day in the I-Four race. The Broncos tallied three points for finishing third, seven seconds ahead of Loyola Marymount. In the next race, Santa Clara's II-Eight team came in fifth and garnered two points. The Broncos were just a mere eight seconds behind third place finisher Loyola Marymount. In the final race of the day, Santa Clara clocked in at 7:06.6, another mere eight seconds behind the Lions from Loyola Marymount.

Senior Heather Lynch took home All-WCC Rowing Team honors for the Broncos.

The Broncos continue action at the WIRA Championships this weekend hosted by Sacramento State.
