SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Two Santa Clara University men's soccer players were named to the NSCAA All-Far West Region Teams Tuesday afternoon. Junior defender Ryan Cochrane was selected to the first team while junior goalkeeper Steve Cronin earned second team honors.
The selection for Cochrane is the third in as many seasons for the junior from Portland, Ore. As a freshman he earned third team honors before earning a first team selection as a sophomore. As a junior Cochrane anchored a stingy Bronco defense that allowed only 14 goals in the 20 matches he appeared in.

For Cronin the award is the first of its kind for the junior from Fair Oaks, Calif. His 0.60 goals-against average not only led the WCC, but also ranked in the top-10 in the country for most of the season.
Both players also earned first team All-West Coast Conference honors after leading the Broncos to a 5-1-0 record in league play, giving the Broncos their ninth WCC title in program history and second in the last three seasons.
Unfortunately for the Broncos, who depart for the College Cup in Columbus, Ohio on Wednesday morning, the duo will be unavailable for play this weekend. Both players are currently with the U.S. U-20 National Team competing in the FIFA World Youth Championships being held in the United Arab Emirates. The U.S. is currently in the quarterfinal round and will play Argentina on Friday, the first day of the College Cup.
