Broncos Extend Winning Streak, Defeat UC Santa Cruz 7-0

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Continuing  its winning streak from last week, the No. 54 Santa Clara men's tennis team defeated UC Santa Cruz with a 7-0 sweep on Wednesday.

Following Kyle Dandan's victory against Brian Pybas, 6-2, 7-5, at No.1 singles, Maxime Armengaud, Tom Pham, Keith Kamono and Eugene Muchynski defeated UC Santa Cruz players at No. 2, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively. At No. 3 singles, John Lamble came back to win after dropping the first set by winning the tie-breaker against Parker Larsen, 6-7(6), 6-1, 1-0(5).

The Broncos tested new pairs against UC Santa Cruz in doubles. Lamble and Armengaud edged Larsen and Pybas at No. 1 doubles (9-7) and Pham and Muchynski grabbed a victory comfortably against Erich Koenig and Sam Rogers at No. 2 (8-3).

Santa Clara will travel to Stanford this weekend to play in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend event, matching up against No. 8 Stanford at 10 a.m. on Friday morning and either No. 38 Vanderbilt or No. 41 Nebraska at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
