No. 47 Men's Tennis Wins First Match Of WCC Tournament, Sweeping Gonzaga 4-0

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - In its first match of the West Coast Conference tournament, the second-seeded Santa Clara men's tennis team swept seventh-seeded Gonzaga 4-0. With the win, the No. 47 nationally ranked Broncos advances to 14-7 this season.

Santa Clara takes the court once again on Fri., April 22 at 11:30 a.m. versus No. 3 seed San Francisco, whom defeated the No. 6 seed Portland, 4-2, Thursday morning.

The Broncos came out strong on the first day of the tournament. Bronco junior doubles partner Nicolas Vinel and Maxime Armengaud jump started the match with an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles, followed by an 8-2 victory from Kyle Dandan and Tom Pham at the No. 2 spot to take the doubles point. SCU never let Gonzaga in the match as Armengaud, Vinel and Keith Kamono grabbed decisive wins to shutout the Bulldogs.
