Santa Clara Men’s Water Polo Ranked No. 18 Nationally

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - On the wake of two impressive wins over nationally-ranked San Jose State the last two weekends, the Santa Clara men's water polo team has broken the top-20 ranking and now sits at No. 18.

After losing the season opener to the Spartans, the Broncos rallied in the recent matchups to take a 2-1 lead in the season series. The second meeting between the two teams, at the NorCal Invitational, saw a close fought match until halftime, with SCU up 6-4 at the break. The Broncos shut out the Spartans in the second half and went on to win 10-4. Five players each scored two goals in the win.

Santa Clara faced San Jose State last weekend at the Aggie shootout with the same result. The Broncos had an 11-1 lead at halftime and never looked back, winning the contest with a final score of 16-10. Eleven players found the net for SCU in this game, led by Julian Fraser's three.

The Broncos will host an exhibition match this Saturday, Oct. 3 against alumni of the program at 1 p.m.

Santa Clara will then travel south to participate in the Kap7 SoCal Invitational hosted by No. 9 Pepperdine and No. 19 LMU, with its first game on Saturday, Oct. 10 at noon at LMU.
