Crews Complete Participation at San Diego Crew Classic

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Santa Clara University men and women's crew concluded action at the 30th Annual San Diego Crew Classic Sunday morning at San Diego's Mission Bay in Southern California.

The men's varsity eight raced in the petite final for the Copley Cup and finished second out of four squads, crossing the line in a time of 6:15.3, three seconds ahead of Sacramento State and 15 seconds ahead of Washington State. Purdue won the petite final with a time of 6:09.9.

The men's junior varsity eight raced in the petite final of its division, finishing third out of six teams. The Broncos crossed the finish line in a time of 6:28.52, one second behind Long Beach State and 14 seconds behind petite final winner UC Davis. SCU finished ahead of UC Irvine, UCLA and San Diego State in the race.

The men's novice eight also raced in the petite final of its division, finishing sixth out of six teams in a time of 6:50.97. Orange Coast College won the petite final in a time of 6:22.2, crossing the line ahead of UC Davis A, Colorado, UC Irvine, UC Davis B and the Broncos.

The women's varsity eight raced in the third final of the Cal Cup, finishing fifth out of six teams, crossing the finish line in a time 7:05.71, five seconds ahead of sixth place finisher UC Santa Barbara. St. Joseph's won the race in a time of 6:54.4 just one second ahead of UC Irvine. Temple finished third while Villanova finished fourth.
