Crew Competes at Head of Foster City Lagoon

FOSTER CITY, Calif. - The Santa Clara University men and women's crews competed at the Head of the Foster City Lagoon Sunday morning, their final Fall competition of the 2003-04 season. The Broncos had eight boats in action on Sunday at Redwood Shores.

The men's varsity eight crossed the finish line in a time of 17:30.4, nearly 90 full seconds ahead of Bear Island Aquatic Center, the only other boat in the division. The men's varsity four finished third in their division with a time of 20:35.4, as Stanford won the race with their 18:18.3 mark.

The men's novice eight entered three boats in that division with SCU "A" finishing second behind Stanford in a time of 19:08.7, while SCU "B" finished fourth in a time of 20:36.4 and SCU "C" trailed behind them with a time of 22:24.9.

Santa Clara's women varsity fielded only a pair boat in the race, winning their division with a time of 24:40.1. The women's novice eight crossed the finish line in a time of 24:33.7 while the women's novice four finished in a time of 25:30.9 Sunday morning.

Both the men and women will return to aciton on February 7 at the annual Indoor Testing hosted by Sacramento State in Sacramento, Calif. Following that event both squads will return to Sacramento on March 6 for a dual match with Sacramento State.
