Surtees - one of two seniors on this year's team - recently took the time to catch up with SantaClaraBroncos.com (SCB) to reflect on her accomplishments and her time at Santa Clara.

SCB: What tournament are you most looking forward to this Spring? Why?

TS:
I am looking forward to the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic in Chandler, Arizona in April. It will be played at Ocotillo Golf Resort, which is a challenging course but for some reason I like it.

SCB: What has been your most memorable moment as a Bronco thus far?

TS:
My most memorable moments were on the road at tournaments. It was fun capturing our moments on film and making videos to have something for all of us to look back on. The best memory I have is during my junior year when Miki Ueoka, Kelsy O'Brien, and I played a harmless prank on Lauren Oh, Taylor Camany, and Brooke Stephens. It involved strawberry jelly, a hotel room window, and a computerized phone call. All I can say is that I've never seen anyone catapult themselves backwards so quickly (Taylor Camany).

SCB: What was the Santa Clara Colby Invite like this Fall? You guys won the team title and one of your teammates won the individual title...

TS:
During the Colby Invite, I was very proud and happy for Taylor Camany for earning her first collegiate win. I experienced my first win at this tournament last year, so I was very excited to witness another Bronco take home the title.

SCB: What are you working on improving most at this point?

TS:
I'm always trying to improve my short game around the green. These shots can easily make or break your score, so I'm constantly working on that area. This season I've dedicated a lot more time during our morning practices to chipping and putting.

SCB: What is your favorite part about playing golf at SCU?

TS: My favorite part about playing golf at SCU is the people here. The team is made up of diverse personalities that compliment each other perfectly. Throughout the year, our bond got stronger and we've become closer on and off the course.

SCB: What have you learned most in your time as a Bronco?

TS:
In my time here as a Bronco I've learned how to be a loyal teammate and leader while balancing the responsibilities as a student. Through my experiences here I've also learned the true meaning of competence, conscience, and compassion.
