Women’s Golf Tied For Fourth After Day One Of Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational

SAN JOSE, Calif. – With a two-round total of 602, Santa Clara women's golf sits in a fourth-place tie after the first day of competition at the 11-team Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational, taking place at the 6,194-yard, par-72 Almaden Golf and Country Club.

Juniors Kristin Le and Kyleigh Moreno got the morning off to a good start with each carding an even-par 72 over the first 18 holes, leading the Broncos to a team score of 297. The Broncos slid to a second-round 305, leaving them tied with UC Irvine 12 shots behind leader BYU.

Le followed her first-round 72 with a team-low 75 over the second 18 holes leaving her tied for eighth place at 3-over 147 for the day.

Moreno scored a second-round 79 and entered the clubhouse tied for 20th with a 7-over 151. Chloe Wong is a shot behind her teammate after identical rounds of 76 put her in a tie for 25th at 8-over 152.

Isabella Salant (77-78) and Annie Freman (79-76) are among a group of six golfers who shot 11-over 155 to tie for 34th.

Everybody is chasing San Jose State's My Leander and BYU's Kendra Dalton, who enter Tuesday's final round with a two-shot lead after each scored a 3-under 141.

Tuesday's final round will tee off at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start.
